Overview
Ophir RFC engaged our team to provide photography coverage of their annual awards night, held at a local hotel. The event brought together players, coaches, supporters, and club members to celebrate achievements from across the season and recognise the individuals who had contributed both on and off the pitch.
The aim was to create a comprehensive visual record of the evening, capturing the formal award presentations alongside the atmosphere, interactions, and celebrations that make these occasions an important part of club life.
The Brief
Awards evenings are about more than simply documenting who receives a trophy. For Ophir RFC, it was important to capture the wider story of the event, creating a gallery that reflected the club’s culture, community, and achievements throughout the season.
The client required a mixture of imagery throughout the evening, including award presentations, posed photographs, candid moments, group photographs, and images of guests enjoying the event. In addition, a branded backdrop had been installed at the venue, providing an opportunity to create a series of formal photographs for players, award winners, and club representatives.
The final gallery needed to serve multiple purposes, providing content for the club’s communications while also giving attendees access to images from the evening.
Our Approach
One of the primary challenges throughout the event was the venue’s extremely low lighting conditions. While this created a warm and atmospheric environment for guests, it also required carefully capturing the photos and extensive post-production work to ensure the final gallery maintained a clean, consistent, and polished appearance.
Throughout the evening, attention was focused on capturing a variety of content that would tell the complete story of the event. Award presentations were documented as they happened, ensuring recipients had a lasting record of their achievements. Alongside these moments, candid photography was used to capture conversations, celebrations, and natural interactions between club members.
The branded backdrop provided an additional opportunity to create a collection of more formal photographs. These images proved particularly valuable for players, award recipients, and club representatives looking to share or keep a record of the occasion.
A range of group photographs were also captured throughout the evening, ensuring teams, friends, and award winners had images together that reflected the social side of the event.
Image Delivery
Following the event, all selected images were individually edited and prepared for delivery. Particular attention was given to maintaining consistency across the gallery, ensuring the final images retained the atmosphere of the venue while presenting subjects clearly and naturally.
To support the club’s branding and future communications, images were supplied with the clubs branding applied, creating a cohesive collection of content suitable for social media, club communications, and future promotional use.
The completed gallery was then uploaded to an online album hosted through the club’s website. This provided a simple and accessible way for attendees to view, download, and share images from the event, extending the value of the photography beyond the evening itself.
The Outcome
The final gallery provided Ophir RFC with a complete record of their annual awards night, capturing everything from formal presentations and group photographs to the candid moments that reflected the atmosphere of the celebration.
Despite the challenging lighting conditions throughout the venue, the delivered imagery maintained a consistent and polished appearance, allowing the club to present the event in a way that reflected the significance of the occasion.
